God continues to bless us in so many new and exciting ways! We are thankful to the Lord for His many blessings and guidance as we seek His wisdom and will for House of Hope of Rhode Island (HOHRI).

In October, God blessed us with exposure through three different events. We had a wonderful and encouraging time at Woodlawn Baptist Church’s Missions’ Conference “Lighthouse for the Lord”. If you’ve never attended one in the past, it is a very special time with like minded Christians in all different ministries and service. We highly recommend that you put it on your calendar for the next mission’s conference they have. It was a great time of awareness to the various works the Lord is doing. We were encouraged as we fellowshipped and prayed with other Christians. Great teachings and hospitality were extended to us. We thank you, Woodlawn Baptist Church, for your heart and love for missions. May the Lord greatly bless you!

Another opportunity we had was to be part of Camp Canonicus’ Fall Festival. It was a beautiful day. We had an information table and also we were able to sell some crafts to help raise money for HOHRI. We had a wonderful time meeting new and old friends. We thank all those at Camp Canonicus who made this day possible!

HOHRI was one charity being supported by Macy’s Shop for a Cause Event. This provided visibility for us in the community and also helped to raise funds for HOHRI. Thank you to everyone who volunteered and who donated to HOHRI!

We were invited to First Baptist Church in Rumford, RI. It was wonderful to be with our brothers and sisters at First Baptist who extended such warm hospitality and a commitment to pray for HOHRI. Thank you Pastor Ernie and Karen for allowing us to share the HOHRI vision with you and your church family. You are a blessing to us!

In October, we also received a tremendous blessing in that the Lord opened up the door to bring Leslie and Eric Ludy in from Colorado to sponsor the Set Apart Girl Conference on February 19th and 20th, 2010. Jane had visited the Ludy’s website www.setapartgirl.com after hearing that Southwest Michigan House of Hope was sponsoring the conference in October. Being very moved with the message the Ludy’s bring, Jane contacted Leslie to see if they would come to RI. They were booked through 2011! Two days later, Leslie emailed to tell us that they had a cancellation and would we be interested in the opening in February. Would we ever! The following is a quote from Leslie’s website that expresses what the weekend will be like: “His sacred intent for you and for me is nothing short of absolute abandonment to Jesus Christ, entire separation from the pollution of the world, and ardent worship of our King with every breath we take”. The conference is for women of all ages 13 and older, mothers, daughters, college & career, youth and anyone who wants to make a difference in this generation. In October, Frances Vincent joined our board. She has a real heart for this ministry and brings many gifts and talents to the board.

In November, the Bay Voyage Inn in Jamestown provided a condominium apartment for a retreat for the HOHRI board. It was a blessed time to connect, pray, share and work together. Thank you Holly, Frances, Sara and the Bay Voyage Inn for putting this special time together for us!

We praise God for His answers to prayer. Two organizations have responded to our request for office space for parenting classes and counseling/mentoring. We look forward to working with them in the near future.

The status on the property we were interested in is as follows:

The Realtor would not take our bid on the property without proof of finances. We’re trusting God for His perfect timing to provide for us.

Prayer Requests:

    For the Lord to be glorified in all that we do, for the fullness of God to be manifested in
      our lives as we seek His wisdom and guidance
    For God to provide property for HOHRI
    For the Lord to prepare the hearts of all attending the Set Apart Girl Conference; for His
      anointing to be upon the weekend; that lives be changed and to be set apart for Him.
    That the Lord would continue to lead Christians to join us who have a burden for
      troubled teens; for additional prayer partners, Christian counselors, staff, board
      members and volunteers
     For God to bring godly men to work with the teens & join the board
    For the captives to be set free and bondages to be broken
    For prayer groups to form and meet across this state
    For the power and wisdom of God to fall upon us
    For wisdom, knowledge, understanding and discernment in developing community
      relations, for God’s protection
    For unity and God’s guidance among the board
    For guidance and God’s favor in obtaining state licensing
    For a projector, screen, office equipment and furniture

Due to a new focus in helping teens at her school in Providence, Melissa has decided to step down from the board. We are sorry to see her leave us but excited for what the Lord is opening up to her. May she be able to help and mentor many teens. Thank you, Melissa for the many gifts and wisdom you brought to the board! God bless you!
